Developed ultra-compact size SSTV prototype.
ADCOM has developed the Mobile Plug-in Entertainment STB - Smart Service Television - SSTV prototype.
Advanced Communications, Co., Ltd. ( President, CEO Yukihiro Yamada, hereinafter referred to as "ADCOM") has developed the ultra-compact Mobile Plug-in Entertainment STB - Smart Service Television – (hereinafter, referred to as SSTV) prototype as a set-top box solution compatible with the cloud service, which is expected to prevail in future, as our unique developed product.
It will be announced at the 2012 International CES (in Las Vegas, USA) that will open on January 10, 2012 (Pacific time).
This SSTV enables entertainment with a cloud type service anytime and anywhere using a plug-in for the HDMI input terminal of a device such as TVs as Mobile Plug-in Entertainment STB, unlike an ordinary stationary STB.

- Background
- Demand for STB is expected to grow in future along with increases in digitalized television broadcasts, delivery of internet video, and propagation of Web services. And the number of terminals that can be connected to cloud services for Internet video and content delivery service will increase. Therefore, the ability for delivering content data for broadcast and video without restriction for location is demanded by users to enjoy the content easily and comfortably. Content delivery for mobile terminals, such as tablets, is predicted to become popular as well. Accordingly, multiple screens will prevail thus further collaboration between TV and mobile terminals will be requested for STB.

- The IP network compatible STB launched this time is compatible with content up to full high vision image resolution 1920 x 1080/30 progressive (hereinafter referred to as 1080/30p) and comes with the following features.
- (1) Achieve ultra-compact size
Achieved superior portability thanks to its compact size of just 83.6 x 37.5 x 16.5 mm. Simply plug-in to screen devices represented by TV anywhere and anytime enables enjoying content delivered from the Internet or service providers, content recording broadcasts, and content such as filmed handy cams. Downsizing contributes to the low power consumption and cost savings of the STB system.
(2) Direct connection to HDMI terminal
This SSTV is equipped with HDMI as the image/audio output terminal. Simply plugging-in directly to the HDMI terminal of TV enables comfortable enjoyment of content.
(3) Cloud service is available
Application collaboration of smartphones and TVs is realized, and innovative solutions enabling provision of cloud services with a smartphone as the controller has been developed.
